Welcome to Naaba Ani Elementary

   Naaba Ani September Newsletter

Dear Naaba Ani Families,

Thank you for a great first couple of weeks with students in the building! It has been wonderful seeing their faces. Please remember all students and staff will continue to wear masks daily as well as social distance to the greatest extent as possible. If your child is sick or has been exposed, please keep them home and inform the office. We will need to complete the contact tracing documentation for the state.

As a reminder, students can be dropped off starting at 7:20am and need to be in their classes by 7:55am. If students would like to have breakfast in the classroom, please have them dropped off by 7:45am. Pickups will be dismissed at 3:05. There will be no check outs after 2:30pm.

Note from our Health Care Office

Per the ToolKit (page 10), if a student experiences ANY COVID19-like symptoms (fevers, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches, loss of smell or taste, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea) during the school day, they are to be sent home with a medical referral.   Parents/Guardians are then given a detailed explanation of the symptoms their student is experiencing with the following statements about when the student may return to school (see blue text). NOTE:  Bullet point #3 explains that if the student receives an alternative medical diagnosis from a healthcare provider for an illness other than COVID19, that student may return to school without completing 10 days of quarantine as long as their symptoms have improved and they are fever free for 24 hours.

Your child may return to school when:

  • COVID19 diagnosis by healthcare provider (MD, NP, PA)
    • Per current guidance by the CDC and NM DOH, your child must quarantine for 10 days and healthcare provider note* (signed/dated) clearing your child to return to school
    • Please report positive diagnosis to school nurse and verify earliest return to school date
  • COVID19 symptoms with no healthcare provider diagnosis
    • At least 10 days since the onset of symptoms AND
    • At least 24 hours fever-free (without the use of medication) AND all symptoms are  improving
  • Non-COVID19 viral illness (influenza, common cold, etc.) and other diagnosed conditions (pink eye, strep throat, ear infection, etc.)
    • Healthcare provider note* (signed/dated) clearing your child to return to school
    • Fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication
  • Parent/Guardian must contact the school nurse at least 24 hours PRIOR to returning to school.

If your child needs to be absent for any reason please contact the front office so we can verify the absence. Students will need to log in to their google classroom assignments to complete any work while gone.
